Gold Farming in Wrath of the Lich King is essential now simply because Northrend is just that much more expensive to game on. So new World of Warcraft gamer beware, it's not as easy and inexpensive to play this expansion. In WOTLK everything is done on a larger scale so here are a couple of Profession tips to get you going.
If you choose Tailoring as a crafting profession you can make some serious gold at the Netherweave and Frostweave level. I recommend you powerlevel to these levels. The best way to powerlevel Tailoring is to use the Auction House to your advantage by buying alot of stacks of low level cloth at higher prices. Once your there you need to provide a consistent amount of Linen, Wool, or Silk. Why? Because there are alot of players that get a lot of different mounts just for the heck of it and this takes a lot of cloth donations to the factions that provide them.
Skinning is also a good way to profit in WOTLK. This is great combined with Mining and Herbalism. New leather types that will bring you profit are Arctic Fur and Icy Dragonscales. They are extremely valuable and will fetch very high prices on the Auction House. Commonly available Borean leather will sell easily, just because it's common doesn't mean it can't be profitable. Borean itself will cover alot of expenses.
Alchemy is also a great Profession to have for Wrath of the Lich King. This is because in WOTLK there is a constant need for flasks, transmutes, and consumables. The most profitable Mastery is Elixir specialization. But Potion Mastery and Transmutation Mastery can be profit generators as well.

Why is my computer so hot?
Hello,
I built a new computer last week and for some reason it is running extremely hot. My specs are:
q6600 @2.4 (stock cooler with Arctic Silver 5)
9800 gx2 EVGA
2x 2 GB DDR3 corsair ram
790i Ultra EVGA
Thermaltake 1000watt PSU
Thermaltake VA8000BWS Armor
WD Raptor 150g 10,000rpm
Vista 64bit Ultimate
ASUS 20x DVD RW Drive
And according to SpeedFan, my temperatures are:
System: 92c
CPU: 51C *Idle and after the thermal kicked in.*
AUX: 39C
TEMP: 64C
Core 0: 51C
Core 1: 50C
Everything there as a little flame symbol next to it, except the AUX. All of this just seems to hot. My computer also seems to lock up a lot at random, and I am thinking that is because of the graphics card over heating. I am also aware of the 9800 GX2 having high temperatures. Everything just seems 10c to high. Would anyone know of a way I can cool this computer down?
Make sure your case cooling is set up like this:
- Fans in front of the case blow IN.
- Fans in the back of the case blow OUT.
- PSU fan facing motherboard to suck air from CPU area and expel it out the back.
- Make sure you put the case in an open space, away from walls, not stuffed inside some enclosed cabinet or cubbyhole.
Also:
Your 1000W PSU is contributing significantly to the heat problem. Your total system draw will never exceed 500 watts-- The Q6600 has a maximum TDP of 105W, the 9800GX2 draws a maximum of 320W, and the rest of your system around 60W. And that's only in the unlikely event everything is drawing max power at the same time.
A PSU is most efficient when loaded to 65%-75% of its power capacity (generates least heat proportional to power draw). You are loaded at less than 50%, and all that excess unused capacity is just generating extra heat.
I would recommend an 80-Plus-certified PSU (higher efficiency, runs cooler) in the 600W range for your machine.
I also second the previously-mentioned suggestion for a better CPU cooler, and perhaps aftermarket cooling for your GPU (not sure if there is any available for the GX2 card though).
