Were termites given the opportunity to vote on your home's decorative edging it is doubtful they would vote for brick edging. Not only is decorative edging with brick inedible, it is also very versatile and durable.
Versatility is important to create your own distinctive look when edging your garden. With bricks you can create almost any pattern you desire from brick-to-brick lengthwise, to short walls that are two to three bricks high. If you are planning to border a decorative garden with brick you might want to consider following through with the pattern by creating step stones through the plants with the same type of brick. The designs and uses are as limitless as your imagination and will make the landscape your very own signature of creativity.
It is important to study and plan before beginning a brick edging program. You want to measure the area in which you plan to lay brick, decide on the exact design you want to employ, and then study the right way of laying your border for longevity and durability. There is nothing more disheartening than looking out after a storm and seeing your bricks askew from strong winds.
One key to ensuring stability is to use mortar, not between the bricks but around and even under. It is wise to begin your project by setting a line level using a mason line to ensure an even row. Prepare the ground by digging a path approximately 10" wide and perhaps 4" deep. This, of course, depends on the type and style of brick you plan to use and the pattern you have selected. After creating your trench tamp it down with a board or other item to make sure the bottom is flat. As you prepare to lay each brick, put a little mortar down on the area where it is to be placed. The mortar will keep your bricks stable longer. Weather changes can make bricks rise and fall but the use of the mortar helps stabilize your blocks leaving you with fewer opportunities to repair misaligned decorations. When each piece is placed where you want it to be, use a rubber mallet to tap it securely into the mortar and earth. It is sometimes desirable to place a little mortar around the outside of your finished design for extra strength.
how long after I put Floc loc in my swimming pool do I wait to sweep it out?
This isn't for the exact product you asked about but it is the instructions for a similar product. I would think they would work the same.
1. SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE.
2. Check filter and backwash or clean filter if necessary.
3. Adjust pH to 7.5 - 8.0 for best results.
4. Use at a rate of 8 oz. per 10,000 gallons.
5. Remove skimmer basket and any product in the skimmer. Pour this product slowly into skimmer with the pump on and filter valve in RECIRCULATE or WHIRLPOOL position. For filters without RECIRCULATE position: backwash, then with filter in FILTER position, dilute this product into larger plastic pail of water and apply evenly over surface of pool. Replace skimmer basket after applying this product.
6. Allow pump to circulate water for 2 hours to distribute this product throughout the pool.
7. Shut off the pump, Let LIQUID FLOC PLUS settle debris to bottom while pool remains undisturbed for 12 to 24 hours (usually overnight). NOTE: The greater the debris in the water, the faster this product works. For extremely cloudy pools (cannot see the drain in the deep part of pool)use double the normal usage.
8. VACUUM TO WASTE all settled debris with filter in WASTE or DRAIN mode. NOTE: Settling may continue for several days if new debris is introduced by wind or rain. If so, vacuum to WASTE again. DO NOT VACUUM DEBRIS THROUGH FILTER.
9. Backwash and clean filter and resume normal filter cycle.
10.Check pH and readjust if needed to 7.4 - 7.6.
